The global engineering industry is facing its greatest challenge in a century. The supply of qualified engineering skills falls far short of demand. Month on month, new projects are scheduled and vacancies created for a talent pool already stretched to its limit.
The problem is exacerbated by the imminent retirement of the baby boomer generation, whose experience cannot be spared whilst new entrants at graduate level are still learning.
Hiring companies in the Oil & Gas, Power, Telecommunications and Civil Engineering sectors are now looking for creative solutions to the understaffing that threatens project delivery.
These companies are partnering with the Academy to transfer skilled engineers from the automotive industry onto their projects to complete critical engineering work immediately, and over the next 20 years.
The principle is simple. It is easier to train an experienced, capable engineer to work in a new sector than it is to bring a young graduate up to speed. It is more practical than convincing an entire generation to delay retirement. Skill transfer can help resolve the skill shortage crisis now and some of the world’s largest engineering employers are making it a part of their hiring strategy.
By graduating from the Academy you will have access to a wealth of new opportunity with busy employers desperate for your skills.
