Packaging Design Technician
Talascend is currently seeking a Packaging Design Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Montebello, California.
Overview
The Design Technician’s role is to produce packaging prototypes for customer design and testing requests. This person partners daily with project teams of project managers, designers, and engineers on multiple requests of varying complexity, ensuring high-quality prototypes are delivered on time. Additionally, this role is responsible for the safety and efficiency of our Design lab operations, including equipment maintenance and general organization.
Responsibilities
- Create prototypes from CAD files, specification drawings, or other instructions, while assuring quality and technical standards are met
- Operate CAD cutting tables and other prototyping equipment
- Collaborate with project team on project plan, prioritizing tasks, and proactively communicating through the life of the project
- Organize project files and other assets appropriately
- Maintain Design lab, performing routine maintenance on equipment, storage, inventory, and work area
- Preserve proper levels of raw material inventory and prototyping related supplies
- Responsible for shipping and receiving procedures
- Promote Design safety procedures, in alignment with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies
- Assist in other duties as necessary, such as facility support, simple design tasks, basic reports, or testing support
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years work experience
- Specific experience, certification, or degree related to packaging design is a plus
- Technically and mechanically savvy with general knowledge of equipment and software
- Mechanical or electrical experience is a plus
- Basic knowledge of various design software including Adobe products, Esko ArtiosCAD, Solidworks, and others is a plus
- Ability to calculate dimensions, weight, and material quantities for timing and cost purposes
- Excellent attention to detail with analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to proactively plan and prioritize multiple tasks effectively
- Flexible and able to conform to shifting priorities
- Problem-solving and customer service skills
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, building trust and enhancing our culture
- Ability to work independently as well as on a team
- Microsoft Office (ex. Excel, Powerpoint)
