Industrial Hygienist
Must be willing to work a hybrid schedule (2-days/week in office) and reside a commutable distance to the office. No relocation support available.
Overview:
The Industrial Hygienist will work collaboratively with various safety departments to identify, evaluate, and control workplace exposures. The qualified candidate has experience addressing ergonomics, chemicals, non-ionizing radiation, ventilation, thermal stress, and noise. Daily responsibilities include writing exposure assessments, sampling, managing hazardous cleanup, conducting periodic inspections, overseeing confined space entry, maintaining chemical inventory, managing hazardous waste, and providing safety review of documents and plans.
Responsibilities:
- Develop exposure assessments to mitigate workplace hazards for new and existing projects.
- Review documents, risk assessments, and work plans.
- Sample chemical and physical hazards.
- Assist with the management and transport of hazardous waste.
- Approve incoming hazardous chemicals.
- Ensure operation and maintenance of testing instruments.
- Conduct respirator fit testing and safety training.
- Provide oversight support for chemical and hazardous waste cleanup response.
- Conduct safety walkthroughs and audits.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environment Health and Safety, or related field with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
- Advanced understanding of 29 CFR 1910 & 1926 (10CFR & 40CFR is a plus).
- Knowledge of occupational exposure limits (ACGIH TLV, OSHA PEL).
- Familiarity with common IH calculations.
- Ability to wear all levels of PPE.
- Strong communication and verbal skills.
- Demonstrated integrity, openness, and respect in teamwork settings.
