Automotive Cybersecurity Architect
Must be locally based in either Newark, CA or Southfield, MI for 100% on-site work. Must be eligible to work for any employer in the U.S. without sponsorship
Overview
Our client is looking for an experienced cybersecurity professional to architect and manage security solutions for next-generation vehicles and infrastructure. This role involves cross-functional collaboration, technical leadership, and alignment with industry standards to deliver secure automotive systems.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teams to define and consolidate technical requirements and architecture for vehicle and infrastructure security
- Ensure requirements traceability and compliance with industry standards
- Work with internal and external engineering teams to drive product excellence
- Conduct design and code reviews to optimize software
- Coordinate with multiple departments to align cybersecurity goals with broader project objectives
- Analyze and resolve system-level and subsystem-level challenges
- Communicate priorities and deliverables through documentation and training
- Author security-related RFPs, RFQs, and SoWs across a range of vehicle cybersecurity topics
- Evaluate suppliers on their capabilities in secure communications and systems
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
- 6+ years in technical architecture or product management in cybersecurity
- Familiarity with embedded security including secure boot, secure updates, secure storage, and hardware security modules
- Experience with system/component-level threat analysis and risk assessment (TARA)
- Proficiency with scalable PKI deployments
- Knowledge of vulnerabilities in vehicle connectivity protocols (CAN, BLE, Wi-Fi, GNSS) and their mitigations
- Experience with requirement management tools such as JAMA, JIRA, or Confluence
- Background in cloud and network security
- Understanding of secure software development
Preferred
- Master’s in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
- Knowledge of ISO/SAE 21434, UNCE WP.29, and cybersecurity management systems
- Experience with fleet security operations and intrusion detection/prevention
- Familiarity with V2X security enforcement
- Experience with model-based systems design
