Production Manager

A Talascend client is seeking a Production Manager for their manufacturing facility in Salem, OH.

This position is salaried, exempt and will report to the COO.
Full-service manufacturing facility that supplies our customers with spare parts, along with original and custom designed parts. Specializing in the shop erection, and assembly of heat treat furnaces and galvanizing lines. Team oriented with a working relationship with engineering. This allows us to have comprehensive discussions focused new ideas and their practicality for fabrication. This role will oversee the production and outsourcing scheduling to ensure quality products are delivered on time and safely.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Scheduling and Shop:
  • Based on Contract Schedule created by Project Management maintain a Production Schedule outlining all assigned shop work for both internal and outsourced work.
  • Responsible for maintenance and coordinating the facility (buildings and grounds) upkeep.
  • Manage internal maintenance team.
  • Develop and manage yearly capital improvement budget.
  • Manage the maintenance of the facility and property in accordance with building lease, government regulations.
  • Identify and manage vendors to perform needed inspections, maintenance and upgrades.
  • Learn and follow all ISO processes and procedures.
  • Must set priorities and communicate them to direct reports.
  • Implement training and ensure compliance with all ISO processes and procedures.
  • After receiving drawings and contract terms decide what will be outsourced and what will stay in house then organize and distribute all work to Shop personnel and vendors.
  • Develop Shop personnel to be cross-functional across the various Shop departments.
  • Succession plan for personnel to cover potential attrition.
  • Ensure all parts and assemblies meet company standards and are shipped on time and within budget.
  • Organize and /or attend meetings with other departments as needed to track both in house shop work and outsourced work to ensure contracts stay on schedule and meet budget requirements.
  • Analyze Shop costs regarding employee and capital resources.
  • Provide training for as needed to support meeting Shop goals and objectives.
  • May be asked to assist in the coordination of all contract shipping and foreign spare parts as needed

Education and/or Experience:
  • Minimum 5-10 years required experience in Production operation including: management of people, process implementation and scheduling.
  • Bachelor’s degree in management, Business Administration or related degree a plus but not required.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
