Mechanical Analysis & Methods Engineer
The company is seeking to contract with a capable and motivated early career engineer to support development and validation of mechanical analysis methods. The position is broad in scope, and may include analysis work, uncertainty quantification for analysis methods, benchmarking of analysis methods against test data, and supporting validation testing with pretest predictions. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in engineering analysis principles, including fundamental solid mechanics and finite element methods. Familiarity with Python and object-oriented programming will be highly advantageous. Preference will be given to local candidates who are able to be on site several days a week.
Responsibilities
• Analyze reactor core and core assembly behavior using finite element methods and document results in calculation reports
• Perform analysis for benchmarking test data and validating analysis methods
• Support methods development work with uncertainty quantification
• Contribute to software quality assurance of in-house and commercially developed software
Key Qualifications and Skills
• B.S. or Masters in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent
• 0-3 years professional mechanical analysis experience using hand calculations and finite element methods
• Strong understanding of solid mechanics and finite element methods
• Strong coding skills, with a preference for object-oriented programming using Python
• Strong communication skills desired
• The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect, and a desire to foster teamwork
