Talascend is currently seeking a Design Release Engineer for a contract opportunity located in Auburn Hills, MI.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Design Release Engineer specializing in powertrain sealing components and systems to join our engineering team. This role is responsible for driving the end-to-end design, development, validation, and production release of critical sealing elements such as O-rings, PIP gaskets, and rear seal retainers. You will work cross-functionally to ensure technical excellence, cost efficiency, and timely project execution aligned with PPAP requirements.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Design Release Engineer specializing in powertrain sealing components and systems to join our engineering team. This role is responsible for driving the end-to-end design, development, validation, and production release of critical sealing elements such as O-rings, PIP gaskets, and rear seal retainers. You will work cross-functionally to ensure technical excellence, cost efficiency, and timely project execution aligned with PPAP requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Development
- Lead design efforts for sealing components ensuring alignment with powertrain and vehicle requirements.
- Develop concepts using CAD, FEA, and design validation tools to ensure functional performance and regulatory compliance.
- Integrate designs in collaboration with cross-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Manage release milestones including B-Sample through X3 gates.
- Own BOM and ECNs related to sealing systems.
- Oversee PPAP processes and coordinate with suppliers, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure successful production implementation.
- Guide resolution of technical challenges related to materials, performance, or integration.
- Lead DFMEA and risk mitigation efforts.
- Contribute to testing and validation strategies to ensure robust design.
- Partner with suppliers for feasibility and manufacturability of designs.
- Work with validation and integration teams to ensure proper fitment and performance across vehicle systems.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation including design specs, test plans, and validation reports.
- Provide regular project updates to stakeholders and senior management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET accredited or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years of experience with sealing components and systems.
- Knowledge of sealing design, materials selection, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with DFMEA, DVP&R, CAE tools, and GD&T.
- Strong communication and project management skills.
- Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in sealing component design and production.
- Experience using Siemens NX and other 3D CAD tools.
- Proven ability to write component/system-level requirements.
- Action-oriented, adaptable, and customer-focused with strong problem-solving skills.
