Lead Network Engineer
Talascend is currently seeking a Lead Network Engineer for a contract career opportunity with our client based in Webster Groves, Missouri. This role is 100% remote / WFH.
Overview
This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting secure, high-performing voice and data networks across the organization. The position requires strong technical expertise and the ability to manage internal and external resources for network projects.
Responsibilities
- Design and support LAN, WAN, wireless, security, and voice systems
- Analyze business requirements and develop network solutions
- Lead technical projects, including integrations and divestitures
- Monitor and model network and cloud technologies globally
- Configure and deploy network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless, PBX, voicemail)
- Maintain network management tools to troubleshoot outages
- Interface with telecom carriers for provisioning and troubleshooting
- Develop technology roadmaps and manage vendor relationships
- Stay current on technology trends and evaluate their impact
- Collaborate with IT teams and stakeholders
- Document procedures and controls
- Mentor peers and team members
Requirements
- Associate’s degree with equivalent experience required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 7+ years of IT experience, preferably 7–10 years in data networking
- Expert-level knowledge in LAN, WAN, wireless, routing, switching, security, and packet analysis
- Experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, F5, VPNs, and Avaya VoIP systems
- Strong understanding of the OSI model and carrier network technologies
- Advanced analytical and cross-platform problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to lead infrastructure projects across multiple sites
- Solid business acumen and effective communication skills
- Self-directed with strong organizational and administrative capabilities
- Merger and acquisition experience is a plus
