Sodium Salt Heat Exchanger Resident Engineer
Talascend is currently seeking a Sodium Salt Heat Exchanger Resident Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Sacramento, California.
Overview
The Sodium Salt Heat Exchanger Resident Engineer will provide in-person management and oversight for the Natrium project design and prototypic fabrication work. This role involves supporting and coordinating cross-functional and multi-disciplinary design activities.
Responsibilities
- Provides continuous project oversight and management of the supplier in design for manufacturing assessments, material procurement, and fabrication work for the Natrium plant at the supplier’s site.
- Drives alignment between organizations through regular engagements, surveillance of work planning and activities, and active issue mining on technical issues and fabrication strategies.
- Functions as a direct and immediate conduit of communication to facilitate continued progression of activities between stakeholders.
- Ensures effective and correct application of key design requirements and codes, in particular ASME BPVC Section III Div 5 and ASME BPVC Section VIII Div 1/2.
- Proactively identifies emerging issues, barriers, or trends, and recommends resolutions to technical and quality challenges.
- Conduct follow-up reviews to ensure resolutions are effective and satisfactorily completed.
- Supports design teams by facilitating regular and organized technical interfacing between stakeholders and management.
- Identifies and resolves delivery issues in coordination with design teams and procurement teams.
- Interfaces with project management personnel on issues related to schedule, budget, or other project management functions, as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
- M.S. degrees may be credited for up to two years of experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of project engineering experience and/or component fabrication, preferably in the nuclear power applications.
Requirements
- Working knowledge and demonstrated experience with ASME BPVC Sect VIII highly desired.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to clearly convey complex multi-disciplinary engineering issues.
- Experience working to a nuclear quality assurance program (10 CFR 50, Appendix B).
- Team oriented and able to work effectively with geographically distributed and international team members.
- Ability to work in a first of a kind environment that requires highly knowledge-based decision making, excellent engineering judgement, and proactive issue management.
Shift
The role requires the candidate to be located or willing to relocate to Sacramento, CA for continuous in-person support, with periodic travel to Bellevue, WA.
