Talascend is currently seeking an Operations Process Engineer for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Calvert, Alabama.

Overview

The ideal candidate will participate as a member of the project team for the slitting and packaging line, developing and maintaining effective technology, leading projects to optimize process and product capabilities, and improving quality, productivity, and cost within the area of the mill.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining an effective technical team responsible for slitting and packaging our product
  • Leading major improvement projects; improving process and product capabilities, throughput, cost, energy and environmental performance
  • Providing technical support for all slitting and packaging team members, reporting process performance to senior management, and managing/improving statistical systems that define product/process capabilities
  • Developing/improving inspection and testing methods, driving functionality and performance of process models/control systems
  • Demonstrate the company values of safety, teamwork, accountability, relationships, and sustainability
  • Fulfill the commitment to ensure a safe and healthy work environment
  • Fulfill the responsibilities required to achieve the quality commitment
  • Demonstrate commitment to teamwork by fostering an environment that embodies trust and respect
  • Ensure working knowledge of competencies as defined in ISO 14001, IATF 16949, and ISO 17025

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering: Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Materials
  • Sufficient experience with flat rolled steel processes

Requirements

  • Knowledge of steel strip properties and applications
  • Demonstrated problem solving acumen
  • Demonstrated understanding of control systems and instrumentation
  • Strong teamwork and a hands-on working approach
  • Advanced skills in data analysis, statistics (design of experiments, data analysis and model formulation)
  • Leadership (leading group problem solving and influencing peer groups in a positive way)
  • Strong work ethic that enables working through obstacles that are common in a green field project
  • Demonstrates strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to develop technical presentations and competently communicate interpersonally and technical papers
  • Competency in handling fast-paced environment, strong organizational skills, multi-tasking, and prioritizing proficiency
  • Demonstrates high degree of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality

Shift

Onsite role with standard 5 day work week.
