Engine Builder II
Talascend is currently seeking an Engine Builder II with a leading automotive manufacturer located in Livonia, Michigan.
Overview
The Engine Builder II assembles and builds sub-assemblies, as well as engines, and is responsible for building and tuning high-performance engines while keeping detailed records of component data.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and build any type of engine, following industry standard assembly techniques.
- Measure components to close tolerances.
- Set and verify part clearances.
- Use measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
- Use of required hand tools.
- Engine build record keeping with component history data.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 4 years of engine build experience.
- Preferred: Associate degree or post high school education in an automotive related field.
- Ability to operate typical shop equipment (hoists, jacks, hand tools, etc.).
- Ability to diagnose engine mechanical issues.
- Must have basic computer skills and excellent organizational skills.
- Must be flexible and eager to learn.
- Must pay strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work overtime as needed including weekends.
- Ability to complete engine teardown/build skills and able to follow 543 charts.
- Able to perform simple fabrications.
- Ability to weld and perform basic wiring tasks.
- Ability to diagnose electrical issues.
- Ability to set-up and test using an engine dynamometer.
