Talascend is currently seeking an Engine Builder II with a leading automotive manufacturer located in Livonia, Michigan.

Overview
The Engine Builder II assembles and builds sub-assemblies, as well as engines, and is responsible for building and tuning high-performance engines while keeping detailed records of component data.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and build any type of engine, following industry standard assembly techniques.
  • Measure components to close tolerances.
  • Set and verify part clearances.
  • Use measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
  • Use of required hand tools.
  • Engine build record keeping with component history data.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 4 years of engine build experience.
  • Preferred: Associate degree or post high school education in an automotive related field.
  • Ability to operate typical shop equipment (hoists, jacks, hand tools, etc.).
  • Ability to diagnose engine mechanical issues.
  • Must have basic computer skills and excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be flexible and eager to learn.
  • Must pay strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed including weekends.
Preferred Requirements
  • Ability to complete engine teardown/build skills and able to follow 543 charts.
  • Able to perform simple fabrications.
  • Ability to weld and perform basic wiring tasks.
  • Ability to diagnose electrical issues.
  • Ability to set-up and test using an engine dynamometer.
