Associate Distribution Engineer
Talascend is currently seeking an Associate Distribution Engineer for a located in Framingham, Massachusetts.
Overview
The role involves ensuring high-quality project delivery in electric utility design engineering, working directly with clients, and gaining experience in various engineering areas.
Responsibilities
- Develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems operating from 4kV through 138kV.
- Comply with safety requirements and design expectations.
- Travel to sites as needed, perform inspections, and return to the office for engineering design work.
- Perform engineering calculations such as structural analysis for wood pole loading and voltage drop calculations.
- Develop permitting documents for different authorities having jurisdiction.
- Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews.
- Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles.
Qualifications
- Completed Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred) from an ABET accredited institution
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to utilize a personal vehicle, as some customer-related travel could be anticipated.
- Willingness to perform both field and office work; ability to work in outdoor environments on occasion.
- Ability to demonstrate strong written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills.
- Collaborative attitude and inclusivity of individuals of diverse backgrounds and geographic locations.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Positive attitude.
- Professional dress and demeanor.
- Experience with distribution design tools such as BOUD, Pole Foreman, SOCKET, Spida-Calc or similar.
- Experience using CAD tools, MicroStation and/or GIS.
- Experience with NESC.
- Experience with design standards.
