Ladle Refining Shift Manager
Talascend is currently seeking a Ladle Refining Shift Manager for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Calvert, Alabama.
Overview
The ideal candidate will lead operations for the Ladle Refining area of the Steelmaking Team on shift, including managing the team of Ladle Metallurgy operators at the refining stations and the Ladle Wall operators that prepare the steel ladles.
Responsibilities
- Supervises and directs operations personnel on the specific duties to be accomplished each day.
- Enforces company policies using coaching and disciplinary recommendations.
- Performs the shift turnover with the previous and following shifts.
- Works closely with Maintenance team to diagnose problems.
- Works on continuous improvement of process.
- Manages personnel work schedules, attendance and timekeeping.
- Schedules and assigns required training for direct reports.
- Responsible for documentation and reporting of issues in mill with root cause analysis and recommends solutions.
- Responsible for the safety, order, and cleanliness of area.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and/or 4 years of military leadership experience preferred
- 2+ years of experience in Steelmaking (Melting, Refining, Casting)
Requirements
- Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office.
- Advanced process control knowledge.
- Dayforce and/or SAP experience preferred.
- Holds self and others accountable including but not limited to trainings, required meetings, and professional development.
- Makes good and timely decisions aligned with company strategy.
- Creates a climate where reports are motivated to do their best to help the organization achieve its objectives.
- Identifies and develops potential successors.
- Leading and training a team on best practices.
Shift
Rotating 12 hour shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
