Defense - Fabricator II (Metal)
Talascend is currently seeking an Fabricator II (Metal) for a contract opportunity with our client in Warren, Michigan.
Overview
The Fabricator II (Metal) is responsible for preparing, cutting, shaping, and welding metal components using various hand tools and equipment. The role supports fabrication activities for the garage and shop teams, performing independent project tasks and collaborating with customers to meet specific requirements and deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate or modify brackets and other components, weld exhaust tubes and bosses.
- Operate band saws, material brakes, and material shears.
- Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, sketches, or engineering drawings to shape metal according to specifications.
- Maintain shop equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
- Participate in daily shop organization and clean-up activities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 4 years of fabrication work experience
- Minimum of 2 years of TIG or MIG welding experience
- Minimum of 2 years operating power brakes, shears, and bench machines
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate in welding technology or related field
- Ability to TIG and MIG weld steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum
- Proficiency in safely operating fabrication machinery such as plasma cutters, oxy-fuel torches, lathes, drill presses, and press brakes
- Ability to operate vehicle lift
Shift
This position requires the ability to work overtime, including weekends, as needed.
