Talascend is currently seeking an Engine Test Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Livonia, Michigan.

Overview

Seeking a hands-on, mechanically inclined automotive enthusiast for a level II engine dynamometer testing position supporting engine durability or development testing. The role involves setup, operation, and monitoring of engine tests, working closely with engineers and support staff.

Responsibilities

  • Setup and operate engine test cells.
  • Conduct engine test procedures and instrumentation monitoring.
  • Perform regular engine health checks during testing.
  • Remove engines after test completion.
  • Collaborate with engineers and support staff to execute testing protocols.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of automotive mechanical related experience.
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Excellent engine mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
  • Proficient with computers, including MS Office applications.
  • Must have own tools and a rolling toolbox.
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Flexible, eager to learn, with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical training in an automotive related field.
  • Engine teardown/build skills and ability to follow an engine assembly manual.
  • Ability to perform simple fabrications and assemblies.
  • Engine dynamometer controls operation experience or training with AVL PUMA and/or A & D iTest.
