Talascend is currently seeking a Facilities Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Sault Ste. Marie, MI.

Overview

This role involves operating, inspecting, and maintaining various building systems including HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment to ensure optimal performance, safety, and energy efficiency. The technician will perform inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance to support the facility's operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing preventive and response work orders on mechanical, electrical, and related systems.
  • Maintain, operate, and repair HVAC/R systems, electrical distribution, plumbing, and building interior/exterior assets.
  • Conduct inspections and report on conditions affecting occupancy and operations.
  • Utilize CMMS systems such as Corrigo to document work performed and update work order statuses in real time.
  • Maintain a valid state driver’s license and be available for call-in work as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in building engineering with a focus on HVAC/R, plumbing, electrical, and production equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Universal CFC recovery certification (or within 90 days of employment).
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining commercial or supermarket refrigeration systems.
  • Willingness to join UFCW 951.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CMMS (Work Order) systems.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications such as Word and Excel.
  • Two years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in electrical, refrigeration, or HVAC systems.
  • UST Class B Certification.
