Talascend is currently seeking an Electro-Hydraulic Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Houston, Texas.

Overview

The Electro-Hydraulic Technician position involves testing, troubleshooting, and assembling mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic assemblies in a workshop environment. The role requires working independently and as part of a team to ensure quality and safety standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Test, troubleshoot, and assemble complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic assemblies using proprietary software and tools.
  • Work under general supervision and perform tasks based on established procedures.
  • Resolve routine questions and problems independently utilizing critical thinking and troubleshooting skills, referring more complex issues to higher levels.
  • Interact frequently with engineers, internal departments, and occasionally with customers during facility visits.
  • Verify that all procedures and drawings necessary for the work to begin are available.
  • Review target delivery dates and ensure all tools and materials are prepared accordingly.
  • Work independently or in teams on assigned tasks or projects.
  • Maintain quality records and required test documentation associated with receipt, in-process, and final inspections.
  • Practice safe work habits, maintain cleanliness, and ensure availability of necessary materials and supplies.
  • Maintain test equipment and ensure calibration records are up to date.
  • Prepare equipment for shipping and construct or fabricate test fixtures as required.
  • Assemble, test, and install products according to specifications, mastering basic and some advanced skills.
  • Perform refurbishments, checks, and analyses on materials, products, and components.
  • Assist with factory acceptance tests, extended factory acceptance tests, and system integration tests as needed.
  • Perform diagnostic troubleshooting on electronic, hydraulic, or mechanical equipment with minimal guidance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Technical, vocational, or military training or related experience preferred.
  • Typically has 2+ years of experience in subsea controls or a related field with the ability to independently operate/test equipment.
  • Training and coursework in electrical wiring, termination, and electronics preferred.
  • High exposure to hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Ability to use personal computers and applicable software such as MS Office, SAP, TCE, ETU/SmartTool, etc.
  • Must pass product knowledge tests as per training requirements.
  • Ability to identify various hoses and fittings.
  • Ability to operate hydraulic power units, overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with critical thinking ability.
  • Ability to work independently and document work accurately and timely.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly motivated with a positive attitude and teamwork orientation.
