Talascend is currently seeking an Energy Contract Negotiator for a contract opportunity with our client in Houston, Texas.

Overview

This role involves supporting the renewable energy team by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal and commercial contracts related to gas and energy products. The candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders and legal teams to manage contracting activities and mitigate risks.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, redline, and negotiate legal and commercial contract terms such as NDAs, NAESBs, and master agreements with counterparties and legal teams.
  • Work independently with minimal guidance while effectively mitigating contractual and commercial risks.
  • Create, implement, and manage contracting activities for specific work streams under broad direction.
  • Analyze data and collaborate with internal teams and legal to identify and execute contracts.
  • Establish and prioritize supplier contracts based on stakeholder feedback and business needs.
  • Ensure adherence to contracting policies and work methods.
  • Act as liaison between stakeholders, internal departments, legal, and counterparties.
  • Define commercial terms and draft language that mitigates risks in counterparty relationships.
  • Provide regular updates on contract status to stakeholders and management.
  • Assist in developing standardized processes and templates for contracting efforts.
  • Maintain accurate engagement details and track contracts to ensure on-time delivery.

Qualifications

  • Experience in contract negotiation and execution supporting business development, oil and gas, or similar fields.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including maintaining a fluid administrative process.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in analytical problem solving, communication, stakeholder relationships, and technology.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
