Talascend is currently seeking an Associate Project Manager for a contract opportunity with our client in Walled Lake, Michigan.
Overview
This role involves supporting project managers and engineering teams in managing distribution line engineering projects for electric utility clients. The position includes maintaining project performance, communicating with stakeholders, and preparing project documentation.
Responsibilities
- Assist project managers in managing distribution line design projects for electric utilities.
- Manage overall project performance and reporting.
- Ensure project costs, schedule, and scope are maintained, including developing recovery plans and change management strategies.
- Communicate effectively with clients, project teams, engineering disciplines, and support personnel.
- Create and maintain resource-loaded schedules and track project deliverables.
- Assist with preparing bid documents, cost estimates, and responses to requests for proposals.
- Complete monthly client invoicing, accruals, and accounts receivable within prescribed time frames.
- Support project activities through regular reporting, scheduling updates, and project cleanup at week’s end.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance, or related discipline, or an associate degree with 2+ years of project management or coordinating experience.
- Capable of planning, organizing, directing, and tracking technical efforts on assigned tasks.
- Ability to track project cost and schedule status.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience with MS Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Ability to interact effectively with customer representatives.
- Experience with project management software such as Jira, SharePoint, MS Project, or P6.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with the electric power industry and knowledge of business issues related to power delivery services.
- Desire to obtain PMP certification.
- Previous exposure to electrical and/or construction projects.
- Proficiency in Power BI and financial management tools.
