Talascend is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in New York, NY.
Overview
This role involves performing preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and facility upkeep at a distribution center, ensuring equipment and building systems operate smoothly and safely.
Responsibilities
- Maintain client assets and perform preventive maintenance on facility-based equipment
- Assist the operations team with maintenance and repair of building and equipment
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment across the site
- Conduct minor plumbing repairs and other general maintenance tasks
- Respond effectively to emergencies and safety hazards
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, housecleaning, and safety of work areas
- Maintain compliance with local ordinances, codes, and laws
- Document work performance and materials procurement as directed
- Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational training programs
- Perform installation and repair of plumbing, piping, heat exchangers, pumps, and associated systems
- Maintain tools and order supplies as required for repairs and maintenance
- Assist with major repairs and coordinate with other mechanics and operators
- Complete work in a safe, timely, and professional manner
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of one (1) year of applicable experience in general building repair and maintenance, including conveyor systems
- Completion of an applicable technical training program
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and local codes
- Capable of operating CMMS work order systems
- Skilled in operating electric hand tools, working on ladders, and lifting heavy loads
- Ability to work in close spaces and on rooftops
- Excellent written documentation skills
- Subject to 24-hour call and able to work in all weather conditions
Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
