Talascend is currently seeking an Electrical Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Allen Park, Michigan.

Overview

The Electrical Technician will build, rework, test, repair, and install wiring harnesses on vehicles and the bench, following detailed instructions from blueprints, schematics, and P&ID diagrams. This role involves mentoring team members and ensuring quality standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, perform functional and safety tests, reverse engineer, and calibrate tools for wiring and components using hand tools and proper techniques following work instructions.
  • Install lights, brackets, and electrical hardware to test boxes, automotive components, and vehicles according to specifications.
  • Test wiring and components for correct operation using schematics and diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform wiring reworks and repairs on bench and vehicle, crimp and solder, de-pin terminals, create basic schematics, and reverse engineer harnesses.
  • Maintain shop equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting, performing preventive maintenance, and coordinating repairs.
  • Train, coach, and mentor team members, acting as a subject matter expert to ensure technical standards are met.
  • Lead daily shop organization and clean-up activities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 8 years of electrical work experience.
  • Ability to read and utilize schematics for electrical rework.
  • Ability to diagnose electrical problems.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools, and familiar with vehicle lifts.
  • Knowledge of vehicle systems and electronic troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to create basic schematics and reverse engineer harnesses.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate in Automotive Electrical Technology or related field.
  • National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification(s).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Experience installing components on circuit boards.
  • Experience with automotive powertrain systems or electric battery systems.
