Talascend is currently seeking a Contract Specialist for a contract opportunity with our client in Houston, Texas.
Overview
This role involves advising project managers on contract strategies and ensuring all contractual aspects are properly managed during project execution to maximize revenues. The contract specialist will support the project team in commercial decision-making and contract administration.
Responsibilities
- Act as a key member of the project team, participating in commercial strategic discussions and decisions to manage contract risks.
- Provide accurate summaries of contract-related matters, including contract synopsis, review, obligations matrix, and guidance on requirements.
- Prepare and review contractual correspondence exchanged during project execution with clients, partners, subcontractors, and authorities.
- Monitor project deliverables, identify risks and opportunities, and manage contractual issues related to change management.
- Ensure claims are issued within required timeframes, obtain internal approvals, and negotiate claims against clients, joint venture partners, and subcontractors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in a pertinent discipline preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with contracts.
- At least 2 years of experience with subsea contracts, with oil & gas industry experience required.
- Strong negotiation skills, understanding of inter-disciplinary relations, and excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Legal or commercial discipline experience is advantageous.
