Talascend is currently seeking an Automotive Mechanic for a contract opportunity with our client in Greer, South Carolina.
Overview
The automotive mechanic II will modify cars and trucks in a prototype environment, performing diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance. This role involves independent project work and collaboration with customers and team members.
Responsibilities
- Maintain vehicle functional condition by working from repair orders or leader instructions and conducting inspections.
- Repair mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replace parts and components.
- Read, interpret, and follow service procedures.
- Maintain vehicle records by entering notes, service, and repair orders.
- Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
- Participate in daily shop organization and cleanup.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of four years of work experience as a mechanic.
- Knowledge of mechanical assembly and ability to operate shop equipment.
- Good attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Own tools with a rolling toolbox.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and execute written procedures.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate in automotive technology or a related field.
- National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence certification.
- State mechanic certification.
- Valid driver's license.
- Knowledge of vehicle alignments, air conditioning system repairs, tire machines, and balancers.
Shift
Overtime and weekend work may be required.
