Talascend is currently seeking a Data Analyst, Fluid Systems for a remote contract opportunity.

OVERVIEW:


Our client is seeking to contract with a highly capable and motivated data analyst reports to the System Design Manager and is focused on system design, analysis, systems engineering, and engineering oversight. In this role, you will act as a data analyst for advanced nuclear reactor projects. The successful candidate will have a background in model development and data analysis, as well as experience with systems engineering concepts. The data analyst will work as part of a high-performing team of engineers and scientists.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform calculations and develop models to analyze fluids systems and chemical processes.
  • Develop and refine models involving gaseous radioactive fission products and gas processing equipment.
  • Use statistical tools to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns and trends in complex data sets.
  • Communicate ideas through written reports with clear visualizations.
  • Perform technical trade studies and decisions to refine system design.
  • Support design reviews as system and component designs are established and refined.
  • Develop and review technical design documents, such as System Design Descriptions, Interface Control Documents, Engineering Design Specifications, etc.
  • Generate design packages for system designs including coordinating of calculations, design reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Interface with the design team to create and manage drawing packages of system designs, including but not limited to Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), 3D models, and system interface drawings.
  • Interface with various design disciplines (such as mechanical, instrumentation and controls, civil, and nuclear) to identify and develop system design and performance criteria.
  • Propose and initiate testing programs for system development and qualification.
  • Provide Support and oversight during test execution, evaluation of test results, and reporting of test results. Extract meaningful insights and apply to equipment, systems, and software development.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 
  • M.S. in Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university.
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis, or mechanical, systems, chemical, or nuclear engineering (or related).
  • Experience with statistical methods and data analysis.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python or R.
  • Strong mathematics background.
  • Experience with applying machine learning concepts in novel ways.
  • Experience with chemistry/chemical engineering, especially in the gas phase.
  • Must be able to creatively apply mathematical concepts and data analysis to novel applications and assess viability of results.
  • Must be a self-starter and possess ability to coordinate with minimal direction.
  • Ability to handle projects that include many competing objectives and design constraints, with ability to resolve conflicts between objectives.
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, able to communicate openly, and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.
