Talascend is seeking qualified candidates to apply for a hybrid Project Engineer position with a leading automotive manufacturer located in Warren, MI. 

OVERVIEW: 

Managing the supplier project and working with supplier on their issues.

Work Schedule: HYBRID (flexible hours based on assignment).Tuesday - Thursday live in the office - GTC Warren.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design release engineer.
  • Driver air bag and steering wheels.
  • Project timeline and Open issues.
  • Interface between suppliers and program team or the plant.
  • Perform engineering design evaluations and concept development across global vehicle programs.
  • Utilize engineering tools and collaborate with VDDV groups including Safety Performance to successfully develop the best system solution.
  • Package components such as steering wheels, airbags and collaborate with other systems within the vehicle (Interior IP/Trim/Overhead/Seats, Electrical, Body, etc.).
  • Work multi-functionally to support initial vehicle configuration work, realize cost optimization, deliver requirements, and implement product and process improvements Balance business imperatives, including but not limited to cost, mass, complexity, and timing.
  • Communicate information to and from internal and external customer organizations (e.g. Design, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality, Validation, suppliers) and lead the product development team (PDT).
  • Stay abreast of relevant new technology and products.
  • Evaluate supplier proposals and designs.
  • Ensure specifications at the vehicle, system and component level and regulations for all regions of sale are met with balanced solutions.
  • Summarizes complex issues into a format that is easily understood by leadership.
  • Effectively facilitate meetings and publish necessary documentation.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree – engineering preferred.
  • 0-2 years’ experience.
  • Experience Managing suppliers.
  • Experience within safety restraints area (consumer safety).
  • Experience leading PDT (product development team).
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel as required- Local travel to suppliers only-Once a week – could be more depending on how many suppliers they support.
  • Flexible hours to enable global review meetings.
