Talascend is currently seeking a Sanitation Technician for a contract opportunity located in Owatonna, MN.

OVERVIEW: 


Performs cleaning and sanitation in areas within the facility. Performs sanitation duties efficiently and within all company specifications and quality standards. Performs sanitation functions under all company procedures and policies.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

This list of tasks is illustrative only and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class. Duties include but are not limited to the following.

  • Documentation Requirements:
    • Recording of all cleaning and sanitation duties.
    • Maintaining the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).
  • Cleaning of the Production Area:
    • Performs daily cleaning and sanitation in the production floor, corridors, hand washing stations.
    • Cleaning of doors, floors, walls, windows, ceilings, horizontal surfaces, overheads and anything else listed in Master Sanitation Schedule.
    • Drain cleaning throughout the plant.
    • Routine cleaning of filter socks.
  • Operation of Power Equipment:
    • Tote and cardboard baler operation.
    • Operation of trash compactor.
    • Must demonstrate the ability to effectively operate a floor scrubbing machine.
  • Stocking and Refilling of Supplies:
    • Maintaining the stock of hairnets, beard nets, boot covers, ear plugs, dust masks and lens cleaners.
    • Maintaining the supply of paper towels, hand sanitizers and hand soap at all of the hand wash stations.


Non-Essential Duties:

  • Assisting with Janitorial Duties:
    • Cleaning employee break room, and locker room areas as identified on the Master Sanitation Schedule.
    • Stocking toilet paper, paper towels, hand sanitizers and hand soap throughout the common areas.
  • Food Safety Role/Duties:
    • Performing all duties in compliance with FDA, OSHA, state, local regulations, company policies and procedures: including safety guidelines, Good Manufacturing Practices, Hazard Analysis and Critical Points, and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Position Backup:
    • Backup coverage for this position is Production Technician Level I or higher team members.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Physical and Mental Requirements:
    • Normal powdered food plant environment.
    • Exposure to dust, noise, hot and humid conditions, and cleaning chemicals.
    • Safely work with a variety of chemicals.
    • Reach, climb, stoop, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
    • See, hear, walk, sit, and stand for long periods of time.
    • Pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting, and reaching above shoulder level.
    • Use laboratory equipment, plant equipment, and calculator.
    • Read and write verbal and written communication, time management, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
  • Success Factors (KSAS): The attributes listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
    • Knowledge of various cleaning agents and/or chemicals.
    • Ability to use various cleaning tools and supplies.
    • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
    • Ability to work effectively and safely in a fast-paced work environment.
    • Ability to read, write and speak English.
    • Ability to perform a variety of repetitive manual tasks that require agility and manual dexterity.
    • Ability to work with strong cleaning and disinfecting solutions.
    • Ability to learn routine tasks quickly.
    • Ability to operate a scissor/boom lift, and floor scrubber.
    • Knowledge and ability to effectively comprehend SDS sheets.
    • Ability to have high of job motivation.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Education/Requirements:
    • High School Diploma/GED.
    • 3 months to 1 year previous sanitation experience is required. Preferably in food and beverage industry.
    • Familiar with Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).
