Talascend is currently seeking an Executive Vice President of Construction for a direct opportunity located in Dallas, TX.

The Executive Vice President of Construction will report to the CEO and have direct responsibility overseeing all applicable construction projects for the company critical to our future initiatives.  The role is responsible for project management, operations, schedules, financial management, vendor relations, procurement strategy, compliance, safety, and other functions aligned with leading construction initiatives.  The Executive Vice President of Construction provides strategic leadership, guidance, and direction to all stakeholders to ensure effective execution of projects.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for leading construction efforts by owning all components of project management from conceptualization to completion.
  • Operate as a true strategic and tactical leader by aligning needs with executive stakeholders to being involved in operational details to ensure successful project completions.
  • Develop effective change management and contingency strategies for projects.
  • Manage relationship with vendors, general contractors, and other external partners on contracts and requirements.
  • Participate in reviewing and negotiating contract terms and conditions, schedules, or other conditions.
  • Ensure construction project activities are aligned with compliance, safety, and other requirements.
  • Lead assigned team(s) with direction, management, training, coaching, feedback, and overall guidance.
  • Develop relevant goals and annual budgets (operational and capital) that support strategic goals and objectives.
  • Monitor financials related projects and activities with applicable stakeholders.
  • Ensure teams complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Travel regularly

Other Functions:
  • Work cross-functionally with applicable teams to achieve construction goals, including executives, operations, finance, procurement, legal, HR, IT, and others.
  • Partner with leadership and operations to define, implement and maintain a company standard and quality standard for all projects.
  • Develop applicable metrics and key performance indicators to measure performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Sciences, Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in construction project management and/or as a Director/VP of applicable projects.
  • 5+ years’ experience leading teams.
  • Prior ground-up/new build experience.
Desired Qualities:
  • Excellent leadership, people management, communication and influencing skills.
  • Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of design, and construction concepts.
  • Ability to establish timelines and budgets with proven track record of bringing construction projects in on time and within budget.
  • Prior experience handling new construction projects to budgets of various sizes and experience in cost estimation and negotiating.
  • Experience with major renovation projects.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and analytic skill.
  • Technical knowledge of MEP systems, building and construction process.
  • Ability to manage, collaborate with, and influence key stakeholders.
  • Experience in successfully leading projects and programs, on-schedule and within budget.
  • Working knowledge of optimization techniques and process improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrates business strategy in day-to-day operations and delivery.
  • Proven ability to drive for result and accountability of business needs.
  • Solid, proven and verifiable record of career stability and project management success.
  • Demonstrates decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions, and identifying priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Project, CAD, computerized timelines, flow charts, purchasing, inventory control, and expediting.
