Engineering Technician
Talascend is currently seeking a Engineering Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Richmond, Virginia.
Overview
The role involves developing design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems, supporting Dominion Energy programs, and using GIS technologies to create engineering deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems.
- Comply with safety requirements and design quality expectations.
- Travel to sites as needed, perform inspections, and return to the office to perform engineering design work.
- Perform engineering calculations such as structural analysis for wood pole loading and specifying conductor sags and tensions.
- Participate in Storm Response.
Qualifications
- BS in GIS, Engineering Technology or related degree
- Preferred: 2-year degree acceptable, experience will make up for degree
Requirements
- Previous distribution knowledge/experience.
- AUD experience is a plus.
- Previous design experience of 3-9 months.
- Previous Dominion experience is a plus.
- Experience with GIS software or other design software (CAD).
- Excel experience.
- General computer/early professional skills.
- Work management software experience.
- Valid driver's license and ability to maintain a rental car.
- Ability to learn Apple iOS.
- Good communication skills.
- Accountability.
- Schedule management.
- Travel to sites as needed.
Shift
Standard work hours, possibly 4-10s; in-office work with no telework allowed.
