Resident Engineer - Fuel Handling Systems
Talascend is seeking a Resident Engineer for a long-term, contract opportunity with our client, 100% remote.
Overview
This role supports fuel handling system design and fabrication oversight by the supplier for an advanced nuclear reactor project. The Resident Engineer will provide on-site technical leadership, ensuring compliance with design standards and project requirements. Travel to Huntsville, AL is required.
Responsibilities

Oversee vendor design and delivery of nuclear fuel handling systems from requirements through delivery

Support vendor design, fabrication, construction, and testing activities

Coordinate and monitor design and fabrication work at Teledyne Brown

Provide technical guidance on supplier conformance requests

Participate in vendor design reviews, status meetings, and design discussions

Coordinate timely input from our client to avoid schedule and cost impacts

Develop technical design products such as 3D CAD models, calculations, system descriptions, and interface documents

Ensure adherence to relevant design codes and regulatory standards

Present and participate in design reviews

Define and support testing programs, including test execution and results evaluation
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; other disciplines considered with relevant experience

Minimum of 15 years of mechanical design experience

Proficiency in technical writing and communication

Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills

High integrity, openness in communication, and commitment to collaboration
