Product Line Supervisor
Talascend is currently seeking a Product Line Supervisor for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Montgomery, Alabama.
Overview
The Product Line Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily production of an assigned product line in accordance with the Product Line plan. This role involves direct supervision of the production team, ensuring production goals are met, maintaining quality standards, and fostering a safe and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist product line leadership team in planning, scheduling, and execution of product line plan.
- Oversee production activities to meet established goals for safety, quality, quantity, and timeline.
- Monitor production metrics and adjust resources as needed to optimize utilization, efficiency, and output.
- Collaborate with other leaders of the product line team and other support departments to successfully execute the product line plan.
- Ensure preventative/routine maintenance for product line equipment and tools is defined, scheduled, and executed as required.
- Supervise, communicate, and provide guidance to production team members including training, coaching, performance evaluations, and product line metrics.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages teamwork, ownership, and accountability.
- Address and resolve employee concerns in a fair and timely manner.
- Ensure production outputs meet or exceed quality standards and specifications.
- Ensure that the product line team maintains calibration on all controlled tools/equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address defects or deviations.
- Work closely with the Quality Control team to implement corrective actions and process improvements.
- Promote and manage team 6S performance.
- Promote and enforce adherence to safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
- Conduct safety training and ensure team members use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Investigate and document incidents or near-misses, implementing preventative measures to avoid recurrence.
- Identify opportunities to improve production processes, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency.
- Lead or participate in Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to implement equipment upgrades or new technologies.
- Maintain accurate records of production data, including shift reports, attendance, and performance metrics.
- Manage inventory levels of raw materials and supplies for the product line.
- Participate in budget planning and cost control activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of production processes, quality control, and safety regulations.
- Proficiency in using manufacturing software and tools, such as ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.
- Requires standing, walking, and occasionally lifting objects up to 50 pounds.
- May involve occasional travel for training or meetings.
Shift
Ability to work flexible hours, including shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
