Talascend is currently seeking an Inventory Specialist, Steel for a contract opportunity located in Brownsville, TX.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Inventory & Warehouse Compliance Specialist to support inventory control and warehouse process accuracy on our project site. In this role, you’ll be responsible for reviewing purchase orders, shipping documents, and inspection reports, ensuring proper storage and documentation of materials, and overseeing physical inventories. Your efforts will directly support project success by maintaining reliable inventory levels of tools and equipment.

We are seeking an experienced Inventory & Warehouse Compliance Specialist to support inventory control and warehouse process accuracy on our project site. In this role, you’ll be responsible for reviewing purchase orders, shipping documents, and inspection reports, ensuring proper storage and documentation of materials, and overseeing physical inventories. Your efforts will directly support project success by maintaining reliable inventory levels of tools and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and inspect incoming material counts
- Review receiving documents (invoices, packing lists, bills of lading) for accuracy
- Audit BPS or related systems for data accuracy; generate reports and metrics
- Document and manage over, short, and damaged (OS&D) material issues
- Ensure compliance with project storage plans and accurate recordkeeping
- Oversee surplus material disposal and shipping documentation
- Administer tool crib inventory and manage entries in the tool system
- Supervise physical inventories and ensure records are up to date
- Participate in material protection programs and maintain material custody
- Provide guidance and on-the-job training to Inventory Specialists
- Maintain registers for gas bottles, reels, containers, and construction equipment
- Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2–5 years of relevant experience, or 6–9 years of related work experience
- Strong knowledge of construction material management processes
- Skilled in inventory planning, personnel oversight, and shipping/receiving documentation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and material management systems (e.g., BPS)
- Experience with Min-Max inventories, consignment materials, and service contractors
