Software Engineer 1
Talascend is currently seeking a Software Engineer 1 for a contract opportunity with our client in Newark, California.
Overview
This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in automotive systems, excellent communication skills, and a passion for supporting both software and hardware development in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on support for internal development fleet vehicles and customer vehicles.
- Collaborate daily and weekly with validation engineers and suppliers to resolve issues.
- Diagnose and root cause software bugs and hardware issues using tools such as Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), Data Identifier (DID) values, telemetry data via Grafana, and Vector tools (CANoe, CANalyzer).
- Support software and hardware development teams with troubleshooting and integration.
- Create and manage issue reports and track resolution progress.
- Participate in on-call rotations one weekend per month.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
- Actively contribute to team meetings and technical discussions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- 1-3 years of experience in automotive systems.
Requirements
- Experience with CAN bus and vehicle diagnostics.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Background in software and hardware development support.
- Familiarity with BLE, NFC, LF, and UWB technologies.
- Proven experience in automotive systems; EV experience is a plus.
- Prior experience working with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Ability to work independently with an ownership mindset and active personality.
- Potential travel as needed (1-2x during assignment).

Shift
8:30am-5:30pm PST, Mon-Fri, Onsite
