Maintenance Mechanic

Talascend is currently seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for a contract opportunity with our client in Miami, Florida.

Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic supports operation, inspection, and maintenance processes to mechanical, electrical, plumbing and systems in assigned facilities. This position is expected to work on a rotating on-call schedule and provide emergency after-hours support.

Responsibilities

• Assist the operations team in the maintenance and repair of building and equipment as directed.
• General interior maintenance – patching/painting, hang pictures, repair office furniture systems, and repair doors.
• Move office furniture, machinery, equipment, and other materials as requested.
• Completes special tasks that include but are not limited to; painting, locksmith work, tenant services requests, and general maintenance as assigned.
• Escort vendors onsite to perform routine preventative maintenance or repairs.
• Requires the employee to be on-call for after-hours emergencies and available before, during and after severe weather events.
• Must be willing and able to support any after-hours building-related activity as required.
• Comply with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas.
• Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them.
• Maintain compliance to State, County, or City Ordinances, Codes, or Laws.
• Complies with all policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs.
• Other assigned tasks as may be typically expected of the Maintenance Mechanic role.
• Working with and assisting fellow maintenance personnel as directed and as required to promote both safety and a positive working environment.
• Following instructions pertaining to specific job requirements and/or restricted activities associated with performing work within a client’s business or facility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Working experience and knowledge in general building repair and maintenance.

Requirements

• Candidate must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
• Excellent communication skills in English – both written and oral.
• Must have ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., use ladders up to 30ft, and possess mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• Ability to perform all work using the proper personnel protective equipment (PPE).
• This position requires frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, stooping, and working/extending overhead.

Shift

M-F, 8-5; rotating on-call schedule and emergency after-hours support required.
