CAE Optimization Engineer
Talascend is currently seeking a CAE Optimization Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Newark, California.
Overview
This role supports the design team across multiple domains by applying advanced CAE optimization techniques to reduce mass, enhance performance, and guide design decisions.
Responsibilities
- Set up and execute structural optimizations (design space, constraints, objectives, etc.)
- Interpret results and propose manufacturable solutions
- Perform subsystem and full-vehicle level optimization (stiffness, stress, mass)
- Apply multi-domain and multi-material optimization strategies
- Use tools like OptiStruct, NASTRAN, Hyperworks, BetaCAE
- Collaborate cross-functionally to balance performance across attributes
- Provide design guidance during concept phases
- Script in Python or TCL (a plus)
Qualifications
- Bachelors (or higher) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- Minimum 4 years of experience, with 1-2 years in optimization
Requirements
- Strong FEA fundamentals and CAE optimization knowledge
- Familiar with OptiStruct/NASTRAN, Hyperworks, BetaCAE
- Enthusiastic, quick learner, problem solver, and team collaborator
- Performance assessed via task-based evaluations
- Official travel may be reimbursed
Shift
On-site at Lucid HQ, Newark, CA, 40 hrs/week (with up to 8 hrs/week OT possible)
