Staff Civil Engineer
Talascend is currently seeking a Staff Civil Engineer for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Greenville, South Carolina.
Overview
The role involves leading or supporting a wide variety of civil and environmental engineering designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments, including high-voltage transmission line routing and siting, natural gas, renewable projects, commercial development, power generation, and water treatment facilities.
Responsibilities
- Leading or supporting engineering teams to deliver well-coordinated, high-quality designs for civil or environmental engineering projects.
- Coordinating with, executing and monitoring all aspects of multidisciplinary projects with varying technical complexity.
- Preparing documentation for design projects, including design criteria, technical letters, memorandums, reports, drawings, detailed design packages, and cost estimates.
- Providing strategic and/or planning services to clients.
- Directing and reviewing work products prepared by junior engineering staff.
- Executing project scope, budget, schedule, quality, safety, and client expectations.
- Establishing client relations and involvement with marketing, contractual, management, and design meetings.
- Championing QA/QC procedures.
- Executing internal personnel training.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Environmental or Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program.
- Bachelor of Science in Environmental, Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- A Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering may be substituted for 1 year of experience.
- Minimum 3 years (4 years preferred) of environmental engineering experience, consulting preferred.
Requirements
- Successful completion (i.e., passing) of FE or EIT preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Experience overseeing construction and an understanding of construction methods and procedures.
- Available for travel as necessary (approximately 10% travel).
- Strong knowledge of standard civil engineering techniques and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, regulators, and coworkers.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
- Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
