HVAC Technician
Talascend is currently seeking a HVAC Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Andover, Massachusetts.
Overview
The HVAC Technician is responsible for monitoring and maintaining various HVAC and refrigeration systems, performing preventive maintenance, and addressing alarms and complaints in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Accept and log all complaints, status, and follow-up calls in the CMMS database.
- Take immediate action on all alarms and repair/correct alarm conditions.
- Monitor the operation and make adjustments on refrigeration, heat exchanger, HVAC, centrifugal chillers, cooling tower, VAV systems, electrical, emergency backup systems, and hot water systems.
- Inform upper management about equipment conditions.
- Check CMMS system for new trouble calls a minimum of once every hour.
- Perform preventive maintenance on all base building and critical system equipment.
- Install and repair HVAC units, including package units, mini splits, actuators, VAVs, water heaters, and motors.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain electrical controls, switching, and motor controls.
- Comply with departmental policy for the safe handling of hazardous materials.
- Ensure that all appropriate R&M data is captured on a work order.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or state equivalent required
- 2 years of related trade schooling or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working with HVAC and refrigeration mechanical systems
Requirements
- Must have a Massachusetts refrigeration license.
- Ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and local codes.
- Proficient with computer-based systems and programs, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Skilled and physically able to operate electric hand tools, work on a ladder, carry tools, lift and carry heavy loads, operate required equipment, and operate a motor vehicle.
- Able to work in close places such as closets, crawl spaces, attics, vaults, etc.
- Able to work on roofs of buildings.
- Able to frequently bend, twist, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Routinely available as 'On Call' craftsperson.
- Good understanding of how refrigeration systems work, including walk-in coolers and ice machines.
Shift
2nd shift, Tuesday - Saturday, 12pm - 8:30pm
