Category Manager
Talascend is currently seeking a Category Manager for a contract opportunity with our client in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Overview
The role involves effective management of supplier relationships and strategic direction of partners and suppliers, including conflict resolution and improving supplier performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex negotiations through planning, performing cost analysis, drafting of contracts and creating business cases to maximize the value proposition across all major categories.
- Responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining relevant integrated commodity/category supplier strategies.
- Manage the identification, assessment, and mitigation of commercial risks within the supply chain.
- Manage & lead a team of buyer(s) to excel in their strategic tasks.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or other discipline and 7 years of experience
- Associates degree in Business, Engineering, or other discipline and 7+ years of experience
- Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, or other discipline and 5+ years of experience
- Masters degree in Business, Engineering, or discipline and 3+ years of experience
- JD/PhD
- 9+ years of experience in lieu of a degree
Requirements
- Must be an independent contributor and quick learner.
- Experience as a Buyer or Category Manager is preferred.
- Aerospace or IT experience is preferred, automotive experience is good too.
- Social skills, cross-functional leadership, and teamwork are essential.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.
Shift
Hybrid schedule covering 12 week leave for 6-8 months.
