Talascend is currently seeking a US – Research & Development Engineer for a contract opportunity located in Minneapolis, MN.

OVERVIEW:

The Research & Development Engineer will support ongoing product innovation and prototype development efforts within the SGNCOE organization. This role focuses on enhancing manufacturing processes, driving process improvements, and enabling successful prototype and product builds. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with subject matter experts and support functions to coordinate key project activities, track milestones, and communicate progress to stakeholders. This position is critical in ensuring technical rigor, product integrity, and operational readiness throughout development cycles.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate designs for manufacturability improvements and implement changes

  • Develop robust processes that drive product and business goals

  • Test products to ensure quality and design intent

  • Pull data, analyze, and publish results

  • Perform failure analysis using formal processes and communicate results

  • Create technical documentation and reports

  • Communicate project status to Leadership and stakeholders

  • Train factory personnel as part of transition activities

  • Travel within the U.S. and/or internationally may be required (10%)

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Degree in Engineering (Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering)

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to program security requirements

  • Must have the ability to obtain a Secret clearance

  • Minimum 1.5 years of professional experience

WE VALUE:

  • Experience with inertial instruments

  • Self-motivated individuals who can work independently and take initiative

  • Demonstrated mastery of design tools such as MiniTab, Access, and MS Office Suite

  • Six Sigma certification and demonstrated use of related tools

  • Proven success supporting technical programs

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey complex or nuanced information

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline
