Credit Analyst
Talascend is currently seeking a Credit Analyst for a contract opportunity with our client in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.
Overview
The purpose of the position is to protect the assets of the company while also supporting the sales needs of the organization. The primary functions include performing detailed reviews and risk analysis on an assigned portion of accounts to assess commercial credit risk, as well as assigning, maintaining, or adjusting credit limits.
Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial credit risk for an assigned portfolio of accounts applying credit practices and procedures.
- Perform detailed reviews and risk analysis on an assigned portion of accounts to assess commercial credit risk.
- Plan and schedule credit review and risk analysis for assigned portfolio of accounts.
- Use credit risk analysis skills and business acumen along with available risk assessment tools and third-party data to analyze new account requests.
- Obtain all necessary information to properly risk assess including assigning a risk category from the Financial Health Indicator.
- Review and analyze assembled reports, scorecard data, financial statements, and supplementary information to arrive at sound financial decisions.
- Recommend individual credit lines or assess the viability of other hedging options for unqualified accounts.
- Personally handle non-routine credit inquiries and correspondence as it relates to the portfolio.
- Monitor monthly lines of credit for customers in the assigned portfolio of accounts.
- Assist team leads or senior analysts in support of risk assessment of Accounts Receivable.
- Prepare and submit departmental reports from simple inter-department reports to more complex companywide reports.
- Participate in customer visits as needed to obtain financials or assess overall business operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with focus on accounting or finance
- 5+ years applicable experience
Requirements
- Strong financial analysis and risk assessment skills
- Understanding of insurance and various other hedging options
- Solid communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to communicate with people at different organizational levels
- Proficient in Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Understanding of business and market trends impacting accounts
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data
- Familiar with SAP
