Talascend is currently seeking a Senior Engineer ASME Section III Design Certification for a contract opportunity with our client in Bellevue, Washington (State).

Overview

In this role, you will create design solutions for the design development of various reactor structures and components for the Generation IV Reactor. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and certifying Design Specifications and Design Reports in accordance with ASME Section III requirements, as well as supporting licensing, compliance, and customer deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Certification of Design Specifications and Design Reports for nuclear supports and/or nuclear pressure-retaining components
  • Serve as the Certifying Engineer for submittals, including applying professional engineering judgment and signing certifications where required
  • Maintain current knowledge of ASME Section III updates, industry standards, and best practices
  • Design of reactor structures and components from requirements through final design
  • Coordinate inputs and requirements from Engineering and Project teams to produce equipment and components design solutions
  • Perform scoping analysis and calculations for design options
  • Interface with the team’s engineering analysis activities
  • Technically manage supplier activities
  • Present equipment and components design results for design reviews
  • Interface with junior engineers and subcontractors, providing direction and mentoring
  • Support continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices to maintain the highest quality of engineering design and proactively identify process change/enhancement opportunities

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical engineering or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of eight years of equipment/component design experience; relevant M.S. degree credited as two years of experience

Requirements

  • Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required
  • Working experience with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III
  • Demonstrated experience certifying Design Specifications and Design Reports for nuclear pressure-retaining components
  • Deep understanding of ASME Section III, NQA-1, and related NRC regulations
  • Experience writing design specifications
  • Experience in finite element stress analysis, mechanical analysis methods, and commercial mechanical stress analysis modeling tools with emphasis on ANSYS
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills, creative thinker
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork
