Civil/Earthworks Superintendent
Talascend is currently seeking a Civil/Earthworks Superintendent for a contract opportunity with our client in Sulphur, Louisiana.
Overview
In this role, you will lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on a project. You will direct craft professional activities and work schedules, and coordinate subcontract work activities and team development.
Responsibilities
- Leadership / Supervision (Discipline Supervision up to 50 craft)
- Supervises and/or directs craft activities as assigned.
- Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
- Determines workforce requirements.
- Coordinates established area operational plans.
- Monitors tool and equipment usage on the site.
- Oversees the preparation of Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensures that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.
- Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
- Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
- Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
- Oversees engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
Qualifications
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience
- 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Requirements
- Experience of large-scale bulk excavation and excavated materials and movements
- Experience of large reinforced concrete construction pours including excavations on major equipment foundations
- Thorough knowledge of standards, specifications and codes as applicable, including various safety procedures and practices associated
- Demonstrated knowledge of civil and earthworks systems and installation processes on similar projects.
- Experience on an LNG construction
- Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner
- Strong technical knowledge of Formwork systems, Reinforcement and Concrete Structures/Installation.
- Excellent problem-solving ability
- Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience
- Prior work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge described above.
- Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces.
- Some lifting may be required.
- Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress).
- Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.)
