Talascend is currently seeking a Mechanical Technician 3 for a contract opportunity with our client in Milford, Michigan.

Overview

The role involves maintaining, repairing, calibrating, and verifying various equipment supporting emissions testing in a professional work environment. The technician will work in several teams, demonstrating knowledge and skills with a nominal amount of cross-training, and more experienced applicants will manage project responsibilities and mentor other technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting and repair of all items making up the test cell facility, including drive systems, fuel systems, dynamometers, pumps, heaters, heat exchangers, collecting motor vibration data, filter replacement, installing and calibrating cell transducers, harness and wiring troubleshooting.
  • Installation, calibration, set-up, and troubleshooting of exhaust gas emission measurement equipment.
  • Performing equipment preventive and predictive maintenance work.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience in an electrical-related field and/or related certifications.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of electrical and/or mechanical hands-on experience.

Requirements

  • Welding and fabrication without clear direction.
  • Familiarity with systems mentioned in the job description.
  • Comfortable working on 480VAC and 1000VDC systems, potentially while energized.
  • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Broad troubleshooting skills.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Nice to have: someone who has worked with emissions or in an emissions lab before.
  • Nice to have: calibration experience.
  • Physical equipment operator exam will be needed for the role.

Shift

Looking to fill openings on multiple shifts and schedules. Potential shifts include 1st Wed-Sat 6am-4:30PM, 2nd Wed-Sat 4PM-2:30AM, and 3rd Sun-Wed 9PM-7:30AM.
