Talascend is currently seeking a Buyer for a contract opportunity with our client in Tempe, Arizona.
Overview
The Buyer acts as a liaison between sourcing and crossfunctional teams to plan, coordinate, and execute strategies supporting all supply chain activities related to manufacturing and aftermarket requirements.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate sourcing activities across interfacing organizations to meet supply chain objectives.
- Support and manage hardware transition activities, including planning and execution.
- Work flexible hours when necessary to accommodate interactions with global suppliers across time zones.
- Plan, schedule, place, and administer purchase orders to ensure ontime delivery of quality hardware.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels in alignment with order policies.
- Collaborate with internal personnel and external partners to resolve complex technical or supply issues.
- Plan and schedule purchase orders based on production needs within the SAP ERP system.
- Manage inventory to meet production schedules and inventory plan requirements.
- Research material shortages and provide continuous updates on supplier capability and capacity.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous improvement in quality, cost, delivery, and lead time.
- Communicate effectively with employees and leadership at all levels, demonstrating professionalism, diplomacy, and ethical conduct.
- Apply negotiation skills and purchasing best practices to support hardware procurement.
- Document, organize, and report work activities clearly and accurately.
- Monitor and release kits to internal and external suppliers based on production and aftermarket needs.
- Purchase and negotiate materials, equipment, and supplies, evaluating vendor quotes and services to determine the most desirable suppliers.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree preferred
- 1-3 years of experience in procurement or a related field
Requirements
- Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the discipline.
- Ability to follow established guidelines and work under immediate supervision.
- Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
- Top Skills: Aerospace or manufacturing background, SAP, procurement, vendor/supplier management, analytics, scheduling, spreadsheets.
- General Skills: Strong time management, sense of urgency, responsiveness.
Shift
Days, Hybrid - 3 days onsite / 2 days remote weekly
