Automotive Senior Mechanic
Talascend is currently seeking an Automotive Senior Mechanic for a contract opportunity with our client in Dearborn, Michigan.
Overview
The senior automotive mechanic will modify cars and trucks in a prototype environment, performing diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance. They will also mentor and oversee team members to ensure standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Maintain vehicle functional condition by working off repair orders or leader instructions and conducting inspections.
- Repair mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replace parts and components.
- Read, interpret, and follow service procedures.
- Train, coach, and mentor team members related to their job responsibilities and serve as a subject matter expert for the team and customers.
- Maintain vehicle records by entering notes, service, and repair orders.
- Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
- Lead daily shop organization and clean-up.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 8 years of work experience as a mechanic.
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical assembly and ability to operate shop equipment.
- Good attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team and able to mentor and train others.
- Has own tools with rolling toolbox.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and execute written procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate in automotive technology or related field.
- State mechanic certification(s).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of vehicle alignments, air conditioning (A/C) system repairs, tire machines, and balancers.
