Talascend is currently seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Warren, Michigan.

Overview

The role involves ensuring quality standards are met across supplier manufacturing processes, reviewing program progress, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to mitigate risks in an automotive or EV chargers/adapters environment. The position includes traveling to international supplier sites and supporting the execution of advanced quality planning processes.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the advanced product quality planning (APQP) process with assigned suppliers to meet or exceed program milestones.
  • Conduct program reviews, escalate issues appropriately, and ensure supplier adherence to client standards and quality processes.
  • Work cross-functionally to resolve out-of-standard conditions and prevent quality issues during production.
  • Travel up to 50% to supplier manufacturing sites in Asia, including Taiwan, China, and Thailand, to verify quality plans and processes.
  • Manage supplier relationships, engage with senior leaders, and facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Review manufacturing and quality documentation, including PPAP, control plans, FMEAs, and run at rate verifications.
  • Support supplier development activities during launch, ongoing production, and implementation of changes.
  • Ensure compliance with client and industry standards, including IATF standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a technical focus (engineering, applied mathematics, chemistry, physics, etc.).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality or engineering within automotive production or related fields, including experience with electrical components or circuit board manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in print reading, measurement, gage design, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes, statistical quality control, and design of experiments.
  • Strong investigative skills and ability to develop technical solutions for quality problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, capable of collaborating effectively across levels.
  • Ability to work independently in remote settings, with flexible hours and travel readiness.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automotive quality standards such as IATF.
  • Background in circuit board manufacturing or electrical component quality processes.
  • Leadership and supplier management experience in a global environment.
  • Knowledge of client processes and standards is a plus but not mandatory.
