Talascend is currently seeking an Engineering Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Greenville, South Carolina.

Overview

The role involves supporting utility distribution design work, conducting field inspections, and providing engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews and root cause analysis of outages. It offers opportunities for growth and development within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support utility distribution design work and field inspections
  • Coordinate with permit agencies, right-of-way specialists, system owners, field leaders, forestry leaders, and third-party owners
  • Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews
  • Conduct root cause analysis of outages and implement mitigation strategies
  • Travel locally and regionally to sites for data collection and inspections, spending approximately 80% of time traveling
  • Review work provided by clients and assess scope requirements
  • Ensure compliance with engineering and construction standards
  • Engage with technical design and client standards, delivering quality and timely design products

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher in engineering technology or related field preferred
  • Willingness to perform both field and office work
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and perform field data collection
  • Valid US driver's license for local and regional travel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Power/utilities experience and previous field data collection experience are preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to perform tasks through relevant experience, training, or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in engineering technology or related discipline
