Talascend is currently seeking a HVAC/Refrigeration Technician for a contract to hire opportunity with our client in Traverse City, Michigan.

Overview

This role involves operating, inspecting, and maintaining HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and production equipment in assigned facilities to ensure optimal performance, safety, and energy efficiency while minimizing downtime. The technician will perform inspections, repairs, and troubleshooting to support facility operations and maintenance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing preventive and repair response work orders on facility mechanical, electrical, and other systems and components.
  • Maintain, operate, and repair all HVAC/R systems, electrical distribution equipment, plumbing systems, building interior/exterior areas, and production equipment related to the assigned buildings.
  • Study and familiarize oneself with equipment and methods required for daily activities.
  • Conduct facility inspections and report on conditions affecting client occupancy and operations.
  • Submit P-card receipts daily.
  • Update work order status in real time.
  • Utilize CMMS systems such as Corrigo for all work performed.
  • Possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Be available for call-in work and perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Supermarket rack refrigeration experience is required.
  • Universal CFC recovery certification (or within 90 days of employment).
  • Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in building engineering, with a strong background in HVAC/R, plumbing, electrical, and production equipment maintenance.
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining commercial or supermarket refrigeration.
