Talascend is currently seeking a Structural Engineer for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Kansas City, Missouri.

Overview

The structural engineer will work on project teams to create world class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments across a variety of industries including power, process, healthcare, airports, industrial, and military facilities. They will collaborate throughout the design and construction process, adapting plans to meet budget, design, and client needs, and perform structural design from conceptual to completion phases.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion
  • Modify and review production drawings for various project types, including power plants, healthcare, airports, educational, commercial, and military facilities
  • Design structural components based on project needs and requirements set by project managers
  • Apply knowledge of structural engineering principles, codes, and practices within the industry
  • Research and compile project-related data as required by project managers
  • Update drawings provided by senior engineers using CAD software to verify corrections
  • Prepare information for client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration
  • Conduct field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients
  • Perform other duties as assigned and ensure compliance with policies and standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program with a minimum of 3 years of structural engineering experience
  • Or Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program, successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and minimum 3 years of structural engineering experience
  • Or Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of structural engineering experience
  • Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a problem-solving environment, demonstrating critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency in structural analysis programs (e.g., RISA 3D), AutoCAD, ETABS, SAFE, and BIM tools such as Revit and Tekla
  • Strong attention to detail, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Engineers in Training (EIT) Certification preferred
