Talascend is currently seeking an Industrial Systems Migration Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Kinston, North Carolina.

Overview

This role involves leading a critical migration project focused on the audit, network integration, and technical configuration of aviation production machinery, including CNC and PLC systems. The engineer will act as the on-site technical lead, ensuring seamless transition to modern network infrastructure in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct deep-dive assessments of unmapped industrial equipment to identify communication protocols, IP configurations, and hardware requirements
  • Lead the transition of CNC and PLC systems to the new corporate/production network, including IP assignment, subnetting, and VLAN integration
  • Perform logic-level adjustments to ensure machines can communicate with central servers, MES, and data monitoring tools
  • Oversee the physical reconnection and hardware verification within industrial cabinets and control stations
  • Act as the on-site liaison for engineering teams remotely based elsewhere, providing weekly status reports and technical documentation
  • Identify potential production downtimes during migration and develop mitigation plans to minimize impact on aircraft production schedules

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years in industrial IT, automation, or electrical engineering within a manufacturing environment
  • Expert knowledge of TCP/IP networking applied to industrial environments
  • Hands-on experience with PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and CNC machines
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and network diagrams
  • Proven track record of managing technical projects independently on satellite sites
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills for "black box" systems where documentation may be missing or outdated
