Manufacturing Operator
Talascend is currently seeking a Manufacturing Operator for a contract opportunity with our client in Chickasaw, Alabama.
Overview
This position involves operating production equipment on a rotating schedule with 12-hour shifts, both day and night, in a manufacturing environment. The role requires ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and inventory accuracy while performing equipment operation, maintenance, and process troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Operate hand or power tools, forklifts, computers, and production equipment.
- Perform team duties such as managing meetings, communicating with other teams or individuals, managing documentation, records, and scheduling personnel.
- Maintain safety, environmental, product quality, productivity, and inventory accuracy for their area.
- Arrange, load, move, package, handle, transfer, label, sample, and document process materials.
- Set up, adjust, clean, take apart, put together, or perform minor maintenance on machines or equipment.
- Verify equipment or areas are safe for normal use, hazardous work, servicing, or maintenance.
- Monitor and control processes using visual observation, process data, and online testing.
- Identify and troubleshoot problems in processes, products, or equipment, and work towards solutions.
- Gather, maintain records, and use statistical control charts.
- May generate, handle, transfer, move, drum, label, sample, and document waste.
- May prepare, load, move, and unload various materials.
- Apply reasoning ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
- Interpret a variety of instructions to perform tasks.
- Perform tasks assigned to operations as per Master Task List.
- Ensure operational activities and process performance align with business and unit goals.
- Coach and train others on plant operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 3 years of experience working in manufacturing or heavy industrial environments
- Basic computer software knowledge
- Forklift experience
- General mechanical equipment knowledge
- Ability to stand for long periods, climb, stoop, kneel, bend, and lift up to 35 pounds
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and weather conditions
- Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization
